Chalkida, as its capital, is a destination that has it all.<b>.<\/b><br \/>Natural wonder, history, seafront, good food, romance, and nightlife. It is an excellent holiday destination, especially if you\u2019re looking for a quick escape from Athens (just a 1-hour drive). What makes it unique in the world is the Evripos tidal phenomenon, where the waters change direction every six hours, with a brief pause in between. It is truly impressive to watch it from the\u00a0<b>old sliding bridge\u00a0<\/b>especially at sunrise or sunset. It is one of the oldest cities in Greece. It was here that the\u00a0<b>Euboean colonization<\/b>\u00a0(they founded colonies such as Cumae in Italy and Naxos in Sicily).
